Creativity and AI: Friend or foe?

14 November 2024, 19.00-20.30
Pigott Theatre at the Britsh Library

The emergence of generative AI has put the spotlight on the relationship between human creativity and AI. This AI technology uses text, visual or audio output, mostly created by humans over time, to create new content, sometimes similar to the source content that was used in AI training. The emerging debates question whether the use of generative AI will replace or augment human creativity, additionally there are many issues in relation to its frequent disregard for copyright, disruption of business models in creative industries, and the quality of AI generated creative output.

Join us in this discussion looking how AI is affecting different areas of human creativity - from writing to music making, and ultimately how we wish our creative lives to relate to AI.

Chaired by Timandra Harkness, this is the first in a series of AI debates bringing together experts from different fields to debate issues spotlit by AI developments
